EHH - Summer League - New Ellerby

To think we have ran seven races already and it certainly has lived up to its title…because we’ve had some scorching weather making some of the races quite uncomfortable. It’s always sad to come to the end of the league because it’s so much more than the running. Meeting other runners chatting and then trying to keep up with your closest rival when the whistle goes!

I’ve had a mix bag of results this year, and to be honest I’ve run better so I wanted to have a half decent run to go out on. The weather was warm but not as hot as it has been. I aimed for 6:15 pace…wishful thinking. We were soon off and I stopped myself keeping pace with the front pack and clocked my first mile in 6:07. I kept this pace going give or take a few seconds for four miles and found myself on my own for the last mile were I slowed a little. This wasn’t my best result at this distance but previous results in this year’s league it was certainly an improvement.

And to my astonishment won the handicap for this race …which made me £20 richer, so a good evening’s running.
